Kentucky nursing home blamed for man's death

At some point, we must face seeing an aging loved one dealing with depreciating health issues. While this happens to everyone as they get older, this does not make the process any easier. It might be ideal to care for an elderly loved one, but this is not always a reality. For many residents, nursing homes are their best options. These facilities often have the resources and needs to care for the elderly; however, errors and mistakes can also happen, putting the health and lives of residents at risk.

According to recent reports, a Louisville family is blaming a nursing home for the death of a loved one. Based on reports, the family of this man states that the man could only communicate with his eyes. The further claimed that his eyes were crying out for help. The family asserted that every time they came to visit he was laying flat on his back most of the time. They explained that he was supposed to be elevated, noting that his feeding tube was also supposed to be running continuously.

Photographs document that the feeding machine was left off a lot. They also found that he lost a lot of weight because of it. Upon further investigation, it was found that he was ordered 20 doses of antibiotics, and of those doses, seven were missed. The man's broth claims that for 6 years he went without bedsores at another facility. But, after 6 months at this nursing home he was dead.

When our loved ones are not properly cared for at a nursing home, their health and wellbeing are impacted. Nursing home neglect and abuse is a serious issue, and if one believes a loved one is a victim of these acts, it is important to understand one's rights and options. Filing a civil actin could help hold a nursing home accountable while also helping with the recovery of compensation for any resulting losses.
