Automobile collides with Fayette County school bus

Riding a school bus is an iconic part of the lives of most children in Kentucky. We can trust that the bus drivers will act responsibly and transport children to school and home again safely. Unfortunately, we can't always trust other drivers on the road to exercise such caution, which could lead to a serious accident.

Recently, a Fayette County school bus was involved in a morning accident with an automobile. According to Lexington police, the driver of the automobile ran a stop sign and collided with the side of the school bus. The force of the crash turned the school bus onto its side and sent the school bus hurtling into a fence.

Fortunately, there were no children riding the school bus when the collision occurred. However, the school bus driver and a bus monitor were minorly injured and the motorist behind the wheel of the automobile was seriously injured and had to be hospitalized. As of right now, the driver of the automobile is not facing criminal charges.

One witness claims to have seen the automobile fail to stop at the stop sign. She also said she heard the crash, which she said sounded like thunder. Other people in the neighborhood say that crashes have happened at that particular intersection in the past, and that it is a problem that has been going on for some time.

Thankfully, no children were injured in this particular motor vehicle accident, but it serves as a good example of how one wrong move, such as running a stop sign, can cause a serious accident. People can suffer significant injuries in such crashes, or could even lose their lives. People injured in car accidents caused by a negligent driver may want to determine whether it is possible to pursue compensation for the damages they suffered.
