Car accident victim dies over a week following the crash

Drinking alcohol is a part of life for many people in Kentucky, a state made famous for its bourbon and distilleries. However, what people should never do is get behind the wheel of a car while drunk. Drunk driving presents dangers not just to the person who consumed alcohol, but also to all others on the road, as one recent incident shows.

According to reports, a woman recently succumbed to the injuries she suffered in a car accident in Kentucky over a week ago. The driver at fault was allegedly drunk when the collision occurred. The woman, who was 22-years-old, was behind the wheel of a Toyota Scion, when a man, who was 18-years-old and driving a Chevrolet Trailblazer, struck her car. The woman suffered multiple injuries in the crash, and after more than a week, passed away at the hospital.

The woman had graduated from Berea College. Following graduation, she worked as a lead teacher. The man was placed under arrest and is facing numerous criminal charges, including driving under the influence.

This incident is tragic, as it cut a young woman's life short unnecessarily. Her entire community is grieving her loss. More than that, however, her family must learn to cope without her in their lives. Fatal drunk driving accidents can result in numerous damages to the victim's survivors. The victim's survivors may have incurred medical bills relating to the crash, there are funeral expenses to contend with and the victim's family must deal with the loss of income their loved one provided, along with the loss of companionship. For these reasons, sometimes following a fatal car crash people decide to pursue a wrongful death lawsuit.
