Accutane

The acne drug Accutane (Isotretinoin) has been linked to multiple gastrointestinal disorders including Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn's disease. This drug is a very powerful acne-treating medication that in the past has been prescribed for patients suffering from severe cases of acne; however, in the last few years it has been used to treat more mild sufferers, exposing more patients to its serious side effects. Accutane was introduced in 1982 by Roche Pharmaceuticals. On June 29, 2009, production of this drug was discontinued, but the generic form, Isotretinoin is still available.

Other serious side effects associated with the drug Accutane (Isotretinon) include the potential to cause severe birth defects to unborn babies if taken during pregnancy, and also several different severe skin reactions including:

  • Toxic epidermal necrolysis
  • Erythema Multiforme
  • Stevens-Johnson syndrome

If you or someone you know has taken Accutane, or a generic form of this drug, and has suffered any severe side effects, Herren & Adams wants to help you with your legal rights.
