Thomas K. Herren

Thomas K. Herren, born and raised in Lexington, Kentucky, has strong ties and commitments in the Central Kentucky area. Tom is a graduate of the University of Kentucky School of Law. In 1994, Attorney Herren became board certified in civil trial law by the National Board of Trial Advocacy, an ABA accredited organization. The requirements for NBTA certification include: numerous trials to jury verdict or judgment; continuing legal education; submission of trial court briefs for review; attorney and judicial references; proof of good standing in the legal profession; and a daylong examination on trial techniques, evidence and ethics. An attorney who has taken the extra time and effort to achieve board certification can be justifiably proud.

Besides being lead counsel on several significant cases (more fully described below), Tom Herren has been on the Board of Governors of the Kentucky Academy of Trial Attorneys since 1988. He currently serves as District Vice-President. Tom is also an active member in the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the Kentucky Bar Association, and the Fayette County Bar Association, serving on various committees.

Charles ("Chuck") Adams was born and raised in Somerset, Kentucky. Chuck went to college at the University of Kentucky and graduated from the University of Louisville School of Law in 1986. Since law school, Chuck has worked exclusively in the personal injury/trial practice area of the law. In the late 1980's, Chuck worked briefly for two prominent personal injury defense firms in Lexington. Since 1990, Chuck and his partner, Tom Herren, have practiced plaintiff's personal injury law almost exclusively. Chuck has tried numerous personal injury cases involving car accidents, motorcycle wrecks, automotive products liability, medical negligence, insurance bad faith, and other accident/injury-related disputes. Chuck's clients have received multi-million dollar verdicts in trials against American Honda Motor Co. and Ford Motor Company. Another client received a punitive damage award from a jury against State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company for bad faith conduct in an insurance dispute. Chuck has tried cases involving drunk drivers, negligent surgeries, traumatic brain injuries and virtually every conceivable orthopedic injury.

In 2002, Chuck Adams served as president of the Kentucky Academy of Trial Attorneys. KATA is a voluntary association of approximately 1,400 lawyers, most of whom represent injured victims in personal injury actions of all types. KATA's stated goals include defending the American jury system to assure the health and safety of Kentucky families, improving the quality of legal representation through legal education and educating the public about issues affecting public health and safety. In 2004, KATA celebrated its 50th anniversary. At age 42, Chuck was among the youngest ever to serve as KATA president. He continues to be active on its Board of Governors. Also, Chuck has been a frequent speaker and presenter at KATA legal education seminars, particularly on the subjects of courtroom evidence, products liability and trial techniques. Chuck is listed in The Best Lawyers in America.

Jerry L. Wright served on the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Police Department, reaching the rank of Lieutenant, until 1992. He had attended law school, and after graduation, he concentrates his practice in civil and criminal. Jerry has been with Herren & Adams since 1992.
